Public Protection

Public Protection is a term used to describe the many different strategic approaches and responses to keeping children and adults safe in our communities.

Having a Public Protection approach recognises:

The ways in which the long-lasting and cumulative experience of trauma and adversity increase a person’s vulnerability to harm and need for support.

That people will often need support from different services and professionals at the same time.

That agencies need to work together to share information, plan and deliver services and approaches to protect children and adults at risk of harm.

That it is everyone’s responsibility to protect children and adults from risk of harm.
